Trees and People | Forestry Stories
This project brought together two things I value deeply, working with people and being outdoors. Across plantation and native forestry sites throughout Western Australia, I documented the stages, systems and human effort that underpin a sustainable forestry industry.
Strong people skills were essential. Much of the work involved spending time with teams on the ground, listening, observing, and helping employees feel at ease in front of the camera so their work could be shown honestly and with pride. These were real moments, captured in real working environments, with respect for both people and place.
My licensed drone operations added another layer to the storytelling. From above the canopy, I was able to safely capture the scale and complexity of forestry, often in challenging conditions complementing the ground-level imagery and helping communicate how it all fits together. The images were used in the Commission’s Annual Report, telling a grounded, human story of forestry shaped by trust, collaboration and time spent in the field.
